About Us
Our Story
Sara Zemenu Senay founded Enat Le Enat in 2020 out of a heartfelt desire to support Ethiopian and Eritrean parents in the diaspora in developing crucial parenting skills to raise thriving children in a new and often unfamiliar environment.
Having navigated this journey herself, Sara understands the challenges firsthand. Born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, she immigrated to the United States in 1995. Soon after her arrival, she put herself through nursing school, married her Ethiopian husband, and raised two children who have grown into successful adults. Along the way, she learned which approaches worked and which didn’t when raising her children in a different cultural landscape.
Through her experiences, Sara met many parents in the diaspora who were struggling to form and maintain healthy relationships with their children—relationships that would enable their children to succeed in their new environment. She believed that, with some support in developing parenting skills, these parents could foster strong connections with their children and help them reach their full potential. This conviction led her to start Enat Le Enat, an organization dedicated to providing that vital support.
Over the years, Enat Le Enat has expanded its mission to support not only Ethiopian and Eritrean parents in the diaspora but also families back in their homelands.
